Delays to Swiss association must not be repeated
The news that the European Commission has finally opened negotiations with Switzerland on the country joining the EU’s research and innovation programme has been greeted with seemingly universal relief.
Mattias Björnmalm, secretary-general of the Cesaer group of European universities, voiced a sentiment shared by many when he said that “having Switzerland fully join Horizon Europe would be a huge win-win” for the country and the EU.
