Universities in Berlin, Bremen and Leipzig take action against protest camps
Pro-Palestinian protests have been broken up at several universities in Germany in recent days, echoing actions taken in other countries around the world this month.
The police dispersed a pro-Palestine protest camp in the courtyard of a building complex on the campus of Freie Universität Berlin on 7 May, the university said in a statement. The demonstrators called for solidarity with the civilian population in Gaza and criticised the actions of the Israeli army and the German state in this conflict, it added.
