Politicians urged to prioritise hygiene and sanitation to save lives and money
Seven sub-Saharan countries together spent US$8.4 billion on treating hospital-acquired infections in 2022, illustrating the need for better hygiene and sanitation, a report has found.
The report, published by WaterAid, a non-governmental organisation based in the United Kingdom, calls on governments to prioritise water, sanitation and hygiene measures in healthcare facilities through policies and funding.
