Half of Australian state’s universities reported increased deficits in 2023

New South Wales universities’ annual report card from the state auditor has revealed an increase in issues needing attention.

The audit of the NSW universities’ annual reports, released on 12 June, found that there was a 26 per cent increase in “findings reported to management” in 2023, to 111 matters of concern.
