It was met with equal measures of wonder and horror, like it was some kind of real-life Jumanji, but without the promise of a return to normality once the game was over. Great as a quirky toy, not so great when it’s a vehicle for the destruction of the human race.
Inevitably, commentators were quick to see that our working lives would change forever. Goldman Sachs predicted that two-thirds of occupations in the United States would be affected by AI automation, with between a quarter and a half of workloads replaced.
