The government announces new measures to deal with research security
The name’s Group—Russell Group. The government announced last night that 24 UK universities had been briefed by the director-general of MI5 and the chief executive of the National Cyber Security Centre about the risks posed by hostile states.
According to a statement released by the Cabinet Office, the spy chiefs warned that foreign powers were targeting UK universities “to deliver their own authoritarian, military and commercial priorities, risking UK national security”.
