University group welcomes Commission proposal to put research sector at heart of screening collaboration risks
EU governments have been advised by the European Commission to be more consistent in their approaches to research security, in a move intended to help researchers collaborate internationally while avoiding the risk of undesirable transfer of knowledge to external countries or malign influence from them.
In a broad package of measures it presented on 24 January, the Commission called on the Council of the EU governments to adopt a voluntary position on the topic to avoid their national positions becoming a complicated “patchwork” of measures.
